My School Friend customised dolls are designed to stimulate play, imagination and
school spirit.
The concept began when Katherine Sadler, the mother of three young girls observed how “play” for children had changed in the short time between her first child and her third. “Out” were the dolls and make believe tea parties and “In” was inviting a friend over to play with electronic computer games.
Our founder thought how sad that “play” had become grounded in technology rather than make-believe. She remembered fondly the long hours with friends playing with dolls and making up new games with them.
Having moved to Melbourne from overseas, Katherine was also struck by the strong sense of school community and spirit among the local and private schools. Uniforms were worn with pride. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a doll who could be dressed just like you in your school uniform? Kids could ask friends over with their dolls and play “school” together. And years later the “school friend” would remain as a reminder of happy school memories.
Thus “My School Friend” was born. Now 18" vinyl dolls are being sold through school uniform shops or by contacting Katherine directly. “My School Friend” dolls are designed for children to play with and dress up. And in order to underscore the strong sense of school spirit, pom poms and head bands in house colours are available for purchase as accessories so a child can bring her doll to sports day and cheer everyone on.
